Matthias Leitner
I design digital storytelling formats and strategies for cultural, media, and knowledge institutions, working at the intersection of journalism, technology, and design. As a digital storyteller, UX designer, and certified Scrum Master, I combine creative processes with collaborative methods to create new narrative and media experiences.
Since 2015, I have led the storytelling lab audience:first at Bayerischer Rundfunk. I develop experimental formats such as the messenger project #IchEisner, the social VR documentary München 72, and the AI-powered true crime podcast In 5 Tagen Mord.
My work has received several awards, including:
the German Bundestag’s Parliamentary Media Award (2020) for #IchEisner
the Anthem Award in "Digital & Innovative Experience" (2023) for München 72
the Grimme Online Award (2024) for In 5 Tagen Mord
As a Federal Fellow of Germany’s Cultural and Creative Industries (since 2017), I’m committed to developing innovative, public-interest formats that open up new perspectives – narratively, socially, and technologically.
